The 1st Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation Launched

The 1st Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation, hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLGA), will be held in Beijing from August 27 to 28, 2012. The launching ceremony and press conference of the Forum was held on July 24. Mdm. Li Xiaolin, President of CPAFFC, Mr. Wu Jiaqi, President of Wenzhou Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Beijing (BJWZCC) and some African ambassadors and diplomats attended the ceremony.

Lauching Ceremony

Vice President Feng Zuoku of CPAFFC gave a briefing on the 1st Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation. He hoped that the Forum could serve as a comprehensive platform to promote practical cooperation at the level of local governments, so that the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and African local governments could be brought to a new height and make new achievements.

Executive Vice President Xu Kaiyu of BJWZCC mentioned in his speech that he hoped the Forum could become an important channel for the "Going-out" development of Chinese private enterprises.

The Forum is organized by the Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association (CAPFA) and Wenzhou Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Beijing (BJWZCC), and co-organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT). The China-Africa Local Government Summit and the China-Africa Economic & Trade Forum will be held during the Forum. The local government leaders, entrepreneurs and people from various circles of both sides are expected to have extensive discussions about how to conduct practical cooperation, etc..

The Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation is the first platform of such kind, within the general framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), for collective dialogue between Chinese and African local government leaders, with the aim to provide a platform of exchanges and cooperation for Chinese and African local government leaders, entrepreneurs and people from all walks of life.
